Go Figure

Why does God do the things He does the way He does? Man has pondered such a question for millenia.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
(Isa 55:8-9)

Okay, we recognize that there is a God, and that we are not Him. But that still makes us wonder. And though wondering is not necessarily bad, let us not forget that part of God's purpose is to fight the war against worldliness head on, and that necessarily includes standing toe to toe with our worldly natural wisdom.

For it is written: "I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND BRING TO NOTHING THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PRUDENT." Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
(1Co 1:19-20)

And so God moves by His Spirit, demonstrating His power in the midst of our weak flesh.

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
(1Co 2:4)

Jesus came to shine His light, and yet He spoke to us in parables.

All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them,
(Mat 13:34)

So next time, you have a hard time figuring out why God does what He does, just remember that He is well aware that we have a hard time figuring Him out, and He actually intends it that way.

Yours in Him,
Pastor B.
