What have you been putting in your gas tank?

Having spiritual car problems? Having that spiritually run down feeling lately? Feeling like you need some sort of spiritual jump start? Feeling like you need your spiritual battery recharged? Feeling like you're just not going anywhere spiritually at this time in your life?

Unfortunately, our flesh tends to point us outside of ourselves for the cause of our problems, when in fact spiritual engine problems indicate a problem inside of us.

One of the questions you might ask yourself is what kind of fuel you've been putting into your spiritual engine? I.e., what kind of fuel have you been running on spiritually? Your fleshly wisdom, fleshly way of looking at things, fleshly abilities, and fleshly attitudes? Trying to serve the Lord in the flesh is liking trying to run your car on water. Of course, putting water in your fuel tank will likely ruin your engine system quickly, whereas you can cruise along in life running on flesh power, and not even know sometimes that your inner spiritual self is being starved for the flowing fuel of the Holy Spirit.

That is why God tells us not to quench the Spirit and not to grieve the Spirit (Eph 4:30 and 1 Thes 5:19).

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
(Rom 8:1)
So he answered and said to me: ". . . 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts.
(Zec 4:6)

Driving under the influence is the best thing we can do as Christ followers. It's just that the influence needs to be the power of the Holy Spirit in us.

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
(Eph 5:18)

If God would but grant us the grace to all be found guilty of living our daily lives under the influence. Are you running on the right fuel?

Yours in Him,

Pastor B.
