When your country needs you to serve, are you willing to serve where you're needed? When your church needs you to serve are you willing to serve where you're needed?
I ran into a guy yesterday that plays several musical instruments. He likes playing music for the Lord, and asked if our church could use him. I told him, "Absolutely!". We can always use musicians that want to play for the glory of the Lord. The difficulty sometimes is that some Christians only want to serve in what they feel are the prime locations.
It's like a potential enlisted man telling his recruiter that he's willing to serve his country, but only if they are willing to station him in Hawaii. What ever happened to, "I'll go where I'm most needed?" Some companies have what is called 'hardship pay' when employees are willing to take work assignments in out-of-the-way places (such as Fort Greely, Alaska). It's extra pay on top of their regular salary. Maybe the Lord has a 'hardship pay' rewards program for those that serve in difficult ministries. But the bottom line is that we should be willing to use our gifts and serve where we are needed.
And who knows, some of the greatest blessings are found in unexpected places.
Yours in Him,
Pastor B.
