Don't offer Trouble Your Guest Room

You may have a beautiful guest room, but don't allow trouble to come into your home and stay. Trouble comes by all of the time, looking for a place to rest its head, but don't let it rest in your home.

The word of God warns us that there are "accursed things" that just spell trouble for us, our families, and our Christian community. When allow these things to have room in our home we are not only allowing setting all those in our home up for trouble, but we are setting up all those in our Christian church family up for trouble.

The Hebrew Bible refers to these things that can ensnare us as God's people as "accursed things" (a word that literally means a net, or something you can get entangled by).

God warned His people that a lot of these snares in the world can be gold plated and look like they could bring pleasure or benefit. An example was the gold plated pagan idols around them.

"you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God. Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing." (Deu 7:25-26)

Joshua warned his people that taking in these accursed things brings trouble, not to just to ourselves, but to our camp.

And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
(Jos 6:18)

When we as Christians allow ourselves to get entangled into earthly affairs or things, it not only spells trouble for us, it spells trouble for our family and church family. God gives a stern warning to us. You can't keep from running into Trouble, but you don't have to give him a room in your house. You don't have to tangled up in it.

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. (2Ti 2:4)

So next time trouble comes knocking don't let him in. Stay clear in the name of Christ and for the sake of your family in Christ.

Yours in Him,
Pastor B.

You are snared by the words of your mouth [referring to some financial arrangements you committed yourself to]; . . . Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler. (Pro 6:2-5) If you are in debt, now is the time to run from it.
